Key items to know in advance of setting up clients in the DAKCS system
Commission – When setting up commission the key things that you need to know are:
- Do you split commission of interest and other charges? If so, is commission split on all active accounts including legal or just active accounts?
- Regardless of if commission is split on interest or other charges, what rate should be set?
- Does the rate change based on age, status, skip, or balance? If so a variable table will need to be entered.
Trust Formula
- Is the client net? – Simple flat commission or variable commission?
- Is the client a gross remit client?
- If the client is a gross remit client do you send all amount collected?
- Do you send all amount to collected minus direct pays?
Legal Accounting – Does the client advance any legal costs?
- Will your client advance court costs?
- Will your client advance court costs and attorney fees?
- Does the client not advance costs but require legal accounting?
Credit Class – This is required for medical accounts. This is suggested for all clients but most importantly medical accounts, that will require the agency to report to the 3 respective credit reporting agencies.
Will interest be calculated on accounts placed by the client?
- Is interest based on date of referral, date of service, or date of delinquency?
- What percent should interest be calculated at?
How should accounts for this client be distributed to the collectors?
- Randomly between collectors?
- Distributed alphabetically by debtor name?
